The Story of Broke

The United States isn’t broke; we’re the richest country on the planet and a country in which the richest among us are doing exceptionally well. But the truth is, our economy is broken, producing more pollution, greenhouse gasses and garbage than any other country. In these and so many other ways, it just isn’t working. But rather than invest in something better, we continue to keep this ‘dinosaur economy’ on life support with hundreds of billions of dollars of our tax money.

The Story of Broke calls for a shift in government spending toward investments in clean, green solutions—renewable energy, safer chemicals and materials, zero waste and more—that can deliver jobs AND a healthier environment. It’s time to rebuild the American Dream; but this time, let’s build it better.

The Psychology of a Powerful Leader’s Base – NSFW

From tartantitan07

When you look at the psychology of these supporters, it is clear to see that people are driven by the same blind trust and devotion to government.

This is not to say that Obama’s base is the only perpetrator of this behavior. It is truly a country-wide and bipartisan problem. People all over the country are finding themselves and their own happiness to be more deeply affected by the actions of our government – and fearful of, “the other party.”

When we are driven to believe that any one party, candidate, or government is the source of our happiness, we have succumbed to tyranny already. It should not matter who is elected in a Presidential race; our personal happiness should be more dependent upon factors that we can control.

Corruption in Government

Dr. Bruce H. Lipton discusses how we need not argue over whether small government, or big government will prevail. Rather it’s the issue of corruption of government that needs to be addressed. Government has a place in society just as the central nervous system has a place in the human body.

President Obama’s Weekly Address – 11/17

President Obama urges Congress to act now on one thing that everyone agrees on — ensuring that taxes don’t go up on 98 percent of all Americans and 97 percent of small businesses at the end of the year. On Friday, the President had a constructive meeting with Congressional leaders on finding ways to reduce our deficit in a way that strengthens our economy and protects our middle class, and he looks forward to working together to get this done.

It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

“That’s great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane - Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn - world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs. Feed it up a knock, speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height, down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn’t coming in a hurry with the furiesbreathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population, common group, but it’ll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the reverent in the right – right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched.”  ~ R.E.M
